科學(xué)的飼養(yǎng)管理是養(yǎng)好長毛兔的關(guān)鍵。我們蒙陰長毛兔（長毛兔之鄉(xiāng)-蒙陰長毛兔）實踐證明，如果飼養(yǎng)管理不當(dāng)，即使有和種兔、豐富的飼料、 合適的籠舍，也得不到良好的飼養(yǎng)效果和經(jīng)濟效益。但是要想養(yǎng)好長毛兔，必須根據(jù)長毛兔的習(xí)性和行為，在飼養(yǎng)管理過程中，注意以下基本原則：

　　1、忌喂單一配料

　　長毛兔生長快，繁殖力強，體內(nèi)代謝旺盛，加之生產(chǎn)兔毛需要各種營養(yǎng)與代謝過程。所以，飼喂長毛兔的飼料不僅要注意營養(yǎng)物質(zhì)的數(shù)量，還要考慮到質(zhì)量，要強調(diào)飼料的合理搭配，嚴禁用單一飼料飼喂長毛兔。俗話說“若要兔子好，飼喂百樣草”。

　　長毛兔為草食動物，飼料應(yīng)以草料為主，精料為輔。據(jù)試驗，沒有草光有料是養(yǎng)不好長毛兔的，一般青粗飼料應(yīng)占全部日糧50%~70%。長毛兔采食青粗飼料的數(shù)量，大致為本身體重的10%~30%。

　　定時定量飼喂長毛兔可使兔子養(yǎng)成良好采食習(xí)慣， 增進食欲，喂料次數(shù)以3~5次/d為宜。但在喂飼過程中還必須做到“五看”：一看兔體大小投料，不能一律對待；二看兔子肥瘦程度投料；三看糞便干濕度投料；四看饑飽 情況投料；五看天氣冷熱情況喂料。

　　長毛兔對飼料的選擇比較嚴格，合理調(diào)制可明顯提高飼料的適口性和消化率。生產(chǎn)實踐證明，要想養(yǎng)好長毛兔，還必須注意飼草、飼料的品質(zhì)。做到以下“十不喂”：一不喂霉爛、變質(zhì)飼料；二不喂帶泥沙、糞污的飼料；三不喂帶雨、露水的青綠飼料；四不喂帶農(nóng)藥等毒 物污染的飼料；五不喂冰凍飼料；六不喂發(fā)芽馬鈴薯和帶黑斑病的甘薯；七不喂未經(jīng)蒸煮或焙烤的豆類飼料； 八不喂有毒植物；九不喂大量牛皮菜、菠菜等；十不喂大量紫云英等青綠飼料。

　　5、保持安靜，注意衛(wèi)生

　　兔子膽小，一旦受驚或受追捕、轉(zhuǎn)群等應(yīng)激因素的影響，就會引起精神不安，食欲減退，甚患病死亡。為保持安靜，保證長毛兔的正常生長和生產(chǎn)，必須注意三點：一是兔舍必須保持安靜；二是為防止疾病傳染， 兔場應(yīng)謝絕參觀，非兔舍管理人員嚴禁入內(nèi)；三是籠舍應(yīng)每天打掃，及時糞便，定期洗刷飼具，，保持衛(wèi)生。
